DSME Launched The Sixth Type 214 – KSS-2 Diesel Electric Submarine For ROK Navy
Citat:South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) has launched the Republic of Korea Navy’s (ROKN) sixth KSS-2 (Type 214) diesel-electric submarine (SSK). The submarine is nammed "Yu Gwan-sun", a patriotic martyr who died in her youth while struggling against Japanese coercion.

Podmornica je nazvana Yu Gwan Sun Ham, po ženi koja je organizirala prosvjede protiv japanske vlasti nad Korejom početkom 20 stoljeća. Podmornica Yu Gwan Sun Ham je prvo borbeno plovilo južnokorejske mornarice nazvano po ženi. "Sa svojim obilježjima nevidljivosti i izdržljivosti, Yu Gwan Sun Ham je nacionalno strateško oružje kao i simbol snažne mornarice za kontrolu mora", rekao je ministar obrane Han Min-Koo prigodom svečanosti porinuća.
"Mornarica treba razviti borbenu moć podmornice kako bi zaštitila nacionalne interese i suverenitet nad oceanom kao stijena te uvijek biti pripravna." Type 214 podmornice su dizel-električna plovila njemačkog dizajna. Dužine su oko 60 metara te imaju brzinu od 20 čvorova i mogu zaroniti na dubinu od oko 210 metara.

The two contracts value the programme at KRW1.6 trillion ($1.4 billion), says KAI in a statement. The South Korean manufacturer signed the two deals with the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) and the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology (KEIT).
The KRW1.6 trillion contract covers Seoul’s budget for the programme, as well as “the investment of industrial participants,” says KAI.
In March, KAI announced that it had selected the Airbus Helicopters H155 to form the basis of the LCH/LAH family. This will help extend the life of the H155, which from 2018 will be superseded by the new H160.

S.Korea picks Airbus to supply 4 in-flight refuelling tankers
Citat:South Korea said on Tuesday it chose Airbus Group SE to supply four in-flight refuelling tankers, which two people with knowledge of the matter said was for a tender worth around 1.2 trillion won ($1.07 billion).
Airbus' A330 MRTT beat Boeing Co's KC-46A and Israel Aerospace Industries' MMTT for the tender, the Defense Acquisition Program Administration said in a statement.
The people declined to be identified as they were not authorised to discuss terms with media.
