Pratt & Whitney F119.

'Bone' out of the fight... for now
Citat:The US Air Force has announced the withdrawal of B-1B Lancers from US Central Command operations as a temporary measure to allow the fleet some respite and for it to embrace new modifications. The B-1 has been a significant feature for the CENTCOM AOR (Area Of Responsibility) for the last 15 years.

Mada sada razmatraju i B-52.

Citat:Aviation Week: Arsenal plane could be B-1, B-52 or both aircraft

A source that is familiar with the arsenal plane concept proposed by the Pentagon told Aviation Week that two platforms being considered are the B-1 and B-52.

“It’s still conceptual and no program has been established. It’s indicative of the kinds of things they are thinking about that could give them an advantage in precision strike. It could end up being both bombers,” the source was quoted as saying.

Ovo više spada u onu temu o vojsci i logici, iako znamo da i netko drugi van vojske smišlja ovakve 'vreća bez dna' projekte.

USAF flaunts ‘arsenal plane’ concept at Air Warfare Symposium

Citat:The project is funded in the Pentagon’s “advanced innovative technologies” budget under a new, mostly-classified programme labelled “alternative strike”. Almost $200 million has been dedicated to the project in fiscal year 2017, and flight demonstrations would start in late 2017 or 2018 and run through 2020.

Citat:In 2004, Boeing proposed a similar arsenal plane concept known as the B-1R – which stands for “regional” bomber.

According to a source, that concept would have greatly boosted the B-1B’s weapons capacity and installed an active electronically scanned array radar (AESA) to “attack multiple targets simultaneously in a jammed environment”. The aircraft’s engines would have been upgraded from the General Electric F101 to Pratt & Whitney F119 to achieve speeds of Mach 2.
