Rolls has proposed to co-develop a new engine which would not be based on the existing Eurojet EJ200, according to reports, which powers the Eurofighter Typhoon.
The new deal would allow India all intellectual property rights of the new engine, which it could use in its Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft project as it aims to build a fifth generation fighter.

The F414 engine, a variant of GE’s successful F404 turbofan, has been selected for the Tejas Mark 2 fighter aircraft. India plans to acquire enough Tejas Mark 2 fighters to form approximately 10 squadrons.
While the deal is pending finalization and requires notification to the U.S. Congress, it highlights the broader collaborative partnership between the United States and India in the field of defense.
