Boeing's CEO confirmed Wednesday that China had stopped accepting new aircraft due to the US-China trade war, as the company's shares surged following a smaller than expected loss.

In a televised interview with CNBC, Boeing Chief Executive Kelly Ortberg said Chinese customers had "stopped taking delivery of aircraft due to the tariff environment," adding that if the halt continued, the aviation giant would soon market the jets to other carriers.

The Chinese government has warned South Korean companies of the possible consequences of exporting any products containing strategically important metals to US defense contractors.
At least two transformer makers received formal notices from the Chinese government on Tuesday to stop exporting any electrical equipment containing heavy rare earth metals of Chinese origin to US defense contractors or the US military, according to sources in the Korean transformer industry.
The move is expected to hurt the export-dependent Korean economy.
This is the first time China has formally taken export control measures against non-US companies.
So-called heavy rare earth metals are used in magnets needed to assemble everything from cars and drones to robots and missiles.
These metals are also needed to make jet engines, lasers, car headlights and computer chips.
