Indoneziji isporucen i poslednji T-50 Golden Eagle
Citat:S. Korea completes delivery of 16 T-50 trainers to Indonesia
SEOUL, Feb. 13 (Yonhap) -- South Korea has completed the delivery of 16 T-50 supersonic trainer jets built by the Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) to Indonesia, the Korean aircraft maker said Thursday, paving the way for expanding bilateral defense cooperation.
After signing a US$400 million deal in 2011, KAI said it delivered 16 T-50i planes between September and January using ferry flights via Taiwan and the Philippines.
On Thursday, Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono hosted a ceremony celebrating its deployment at Halim Perdanakusumah Airport in Jakarta, which was attended by the South Korean Air Force chief and senior military officials of the two nations.
"T-50i is the symbol of the close relations and cooperation in the defense industry of the two nations," Lee Yong-geol, the head of the state-run Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), said in the ceremony.
KAI President Ha Sung-yong vowed to provide maintenance and other support for the Indonesian Air Force in the following decades.
With sales of T-50s to Indonesia, South Korea has become the world's sixth supersonic trainer jet exporter.
Indonesia is the biggest Southeast Asian buyer for South Korea's defense industry, buying Korean-made submarines and trainer jets.
Southeast Asia's biggest economy is also participating in Seoul's indigenous fighter development program, codenamed KFX, investing about 20 percent of the initial development cost.
The KFX project aims to build F-16 class fighter jets to replace the Air Force's aging fleet of F-4 and F-5 fighter planes, while eyeing the overseas market with homegrown aircraft.
The state arms development agency has been working on the concept and designs of the aircraft, waiting for the government's approval to start a full-scale project.

Ugovor navodno ove nedelje.....
Citat:FORT DEL PILAR, Baguio City , Philippines – The Philippines and South Korea are expected to sign this week a multi-billion peso deal that would allow the military to acquire 12 lead-in fighter trainer jets.
“Within next week, starting Monday, within that week, we will have a signing of contract for the FA-50 (jets) with the South Korean government,” Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin told reporters here.
He said a deal involving the purchase of eight combat utility helicopters from Canada may also be forged this week.
Last month, the defense department and the Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) completed the negotiations for the lead-in fighter trainer jets project which has an approved budget of P18.9 billion.
KAI will be supplying FA-50 jets, which are derived from the family of T-50 advanced jet trainer air assets. The jets will be used for territorial defense operations.
The first batch of jets is expected to be delivered late next year. KAI is required to deliver at least two air assets within 18 months after the signing of the contract.
The delivery is expected to be completed by 2017.
FA-50s are air assets that have fighter capabilities but have some features that are different from more advanced fighter jets.
The FA-50’s design was drafted from the Lockheed F-16 fighter jet. The F-16 aircraft has a very long list of weapons that are certified for use while the weapon capabilities of the FA-50 are limited to the low-cost missile systems.
Lead-in trainer jets can be used to prepare pilots for more advanced air assets.
The Philippines will make an advance payment worth 15 percent of the total contract price to KAI.
Malacañang has also allowed the defense department to tap a progress payment scheme, where the government would pay the supplier based on a mutually agreed upon payment schedule.

DND Eyes BVR Upgrades for F/A-50s
Citat:MANILA, (PNA) -- The Department of National Defense (DND) is planning to install equipment that would give the F/A-50 "Fighting Eagle" a "beyond visual range" (BVR) capability.
BVR is the capability to detect, track and if needed attack air targets beyond 20 nautical miles (around 37 kilometers).
DND Assistant Secretary Patrick Velez said that this is one of the upgrades they are planning to make the F/A-50 a much more capable aircraft in defending the country's airspace.
But due to the cost, estimated at P800 million to P1 billion per BVR fitting, not all 12 aircraft will be fitted.
