Citat:As part of its modernisation plans, the FAP has already committed to purchasing four C-27J Spartans from Italian company Finmeccanica, with three already being delivered and a fourth expected by the end of the year.

Vinatea said that the FAP intends to build its fleet of tactical lift C-27Js further, bringing the total fleet to 12. Even more surprising for the Latin American country is a plan to buy six Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules to replace legacy L-100 aircraft currently in service.

‘We used to fly the Antonov An-32 but our aircraft are now more than 25 years old, so we need to replace them and our L-100 Hercules, those are 35 years old,’ said Vinatea.

It wasn’t previously known that the FAP intended to buy the C-130J, and if the procurement is approved it would mean that Peru would be the first Latin America ‘J’ operator.
