F-35 ni u Italiji ni Velikoj Britaniji ne menja Tajfuna nego Tornada. I u Britaniji i u Italiji je namenjen za dejstvo po ciljevima na zemlji a samo u samoodbarni protiv ciljeva u vazduhu. Uopšte nije predviđeno njegova upotreba u sistemu PVO. Pri izvršenju zadataka sa F-35 predviđena je obavezna zaštita sa Tajfunom.
F-35 je u stvari upravo to - naslednik Tornada tj avion za izolaciju vojišta.
Što se tiče Nemaca bumo videli ali tvrdim da F-35 nema nikakve šanse da nasledi Tornada. Stojim iza toga.

Ni Britanci ni Italijani ni u daljoj perspektivi ne predviđaju zamenu Tajfuna sa F-35.

Without being retrofitted, these aircraft would become “concurrency orphans” — airplanes left behind in the acquisition cycle after the services purchased them in haste before finishing the development process.

Left unsaid so far is what will become of the 81 F-35s purchased by the Marine Corps and Navy during that same period. If they are left in their current state, nearly 200 F-35s might permanently remain unready for combat because the Pentagon would rather buy new aircraft than upgrade the ones the American people have already paid for.

Krajnje je nejasno zašto bi troškovi modifikacije bili toliko visoki ako je samo softver u pitanju.
Moguće je da je ipak potrebno promeniti i dosta toga na hardveru.

Ovo je tipično američka brljotina. Sve staro mora da se baci i da se stavi sve novo i ne testirano. Da F-35 ima HUD problem bi bio značajno manji.

Citat:Then there is the matter of pilots actually seeing double due to “false tracks.” There is a problem with taking all of the information generated by the various onboard instruments and merging it into a coherent picture for the pilot, a process called sensor fusion. Pilots are reporting that the different instruments, like the plane’s radar and the EOTS, are detecting the same target but the computer compiling the information is displaying the single target as two. Pilots have tried to work around this problem by shutting off some of the sensors to make the superfluous targets disappear. This, DOT&E says, is “unacceptable for combat and violates the basic principle of fusing contributions from multiple sensors into an accurate track and clear display to gain situational awareness and to identify and engage enemy targets.”

And as bad as the problem is in a single plane, it’s much worse when several planes are attempting to share data across the network. The F-35 has a Multifunction Advanced Data Link (MADL) that is designed to enable the plane to share information with other F-35s in order to give all the pilots a common picture of the battlespace. It does this by taking all of the data generated by each plane and combining it into a single, shared view of the world. But this system, too, is creating erroneous or split images of targets. Compounding the problem, the system is also sometimes dropping images of targets altogether, causing confusion inside the cockpits about what’s there or not there.

Ne znam koji je retard osmislio informacioni sistem koji zahteva obavezno veliki protok podataka. Ovo nije moguće u mirnodopskim a kamoli u borbenim uslovima.

Ja godinama pričam da ako za F-35 bar malo vrede zakoni aerodinamike to mora da bude leteća cigla ali ne vredi ...

Требали су мачора и то А верзију да извуку из нафталина, па би крмак имао колике толике шансе у тој блиској ваздушној борби...

Avion koji ima dimenzije F-16 a masu F-15A definitivno ne može biti manevrabilan i uopšte imati visoke performanse.
Lokidovi inženjeri nisu madjioničari i suludo je očekivati tako nešto. Po meni ovo je krivica menadžmenta koji je pristao da laki stelt lovac-bombarder pretvori u teški. Sve ostalo je posledica te odluke a odozgo začinjeno problemima sa senzorima, obradom i prikazom podataka. Podrška operativnoj upotrebi je posebna priča.
Kao da nije postojala nikakva povratna sprega od korisnika ka Lokidu u toku razvoja. Što i nije čudo ako se ima u vidu "revolving door" princip za šefove Pentagona.
