For years, up to September 2017, the Pentagon targeted initial operational capability (IOC) for the F-35C between August 2018 and February 2019.

Now signs indicate the 2018 date could be slipping to February 2019 because of when the F-35 programme can test the upgraded 3F software package in a formal Initial Operations Test and Evaluation (IOT&E). Block 3F provides 100 percent of the software required for full warfighting capability, including data link imagery, full weapons, and embedded training. The Navy must have that 3F before any operation can take place.

RAAF Accepts Three More F-35As
Citat:The RAAF has formally accepted three more F-35As from Lockheed Martin at the Integrated Training Centre at Luke AFB in Arizona.
After rolling out and taking flight for the first time in December and January, F-35As A35-003, 004 and 005 were accepted into the ITC in early March. The new aircraft are the first JSF international partner aircraft to be delivered with the latest Block 3F operational flight program software load.
