Citat:HALLBERGMOOS, Germany --- Eurofighter expresses its deep disappointment at the decision of Romania’s Supreme Council of National Defense to acquire second-hand F-16 aircraft in its program to acquire Multi-Role Aircraft for the Romanian Air Force.

Specifically, Eurofighter regrets that this decision, which requires the final approval of Parliament, was taken without any international tender for the award of the contract - which is standard procedure in all EU countries - and that therefore Eurofighter’s product was not duly considered.

Eurofighter believes that, for an amount similar to what Romania intends to spend on 24 F-16 used aircraft, it could provide a much better financial package which would not only provide the Romanian Air Force with a more effective and more efficient aircraft, but would include substantial offsets to Romanian industry, thus ensuring long-term employment for hundreds of technicians and specialists. It also would enable local industry to expand its technological expertise through participation in a program which, like the Eurofighter, is the latest generation in Europe.

Eurofighter further regrets that Romania's decision not to hold an open tender deprives the country of an opportunity to further strengthen ties with Europe's aerospace industry. Eurofighter is convinced that Romania could play an important role on the international competitive stage - as was demonstrated recently by one of the investment partners in the Eurofighter program, which plans to open a factory to manufacture advanced composite materials in Ghimbav / Brasov.

Eurofighter has always demonstrated very clearly that it can provide extensive benefits to partner countries in the program, or those who purchase the plane. For example in Austria - which has ordered 15 aircraft - Eurofighter has offered local industry a return on investment (ROI) greater than the amount paid for acquisition of aircraft. In Saudi Arabia - which has ordered 72 aircraft - Eurofighter has pledged to build a factory for final assembly of part of the aircraft ordered, which is a first step towards the development of an advanced aviation industry in the country.

In the four Eurofighter partner countries, over 100,000 jobs are directly or indirectly supported by more than 400 companies. The positive economic impact of the program in the four Eurofighter partner countries is estimated at over 60 billion euros.

Romania's decision makes it impossible to generate a comparable impact within its own borders, and will require the country, in the short and medium terms, to undertake a costly new program to modernize a fleet of combat aircraft - which would have been avoided had Eurofighter been chosen.

This is not to mention the fact that the Eurofighter is still the best fighter available on the world market – it is superior now, and will be in future, against any aerial threat. Therefore, it would have been a strong defense and a powerful deterrent for Romania, which is not the case for used F-16 aircraft.

Koliko S. Arabija ima ukupno Eurofighter-a i da li su im svi isporuceni?

Saudijska Arabija potpisala je ugovor za 72 Typhoona.
Prvih 24 bice Tranche 2, isporuceni "u komadu". Isporuka je pocela u Junu 2009, do sada je isporuceno 8 aviona (ostalih 16 do kraja godine).
48 Typhoona bice Tranche 3 standard i sklapace se lokalno, u Saudijskoj Arabiji.

DJORDJE-NO-1 ::@aerodrom hvala! A u cemu je razlika izmedju Tranche 2 i Tranche 3 standarda?

Pa Eurofighter ti je radjen kao lovac ali su kasnije videli da su se zeznuli i krenuli da ga "prepravljaju" u visenamenskog.
Tranche 2 bas to i obuhvata,pored nove elektronike i integrisanje sistema za vodjenje preciznih bombi i nosenje istih kao i novih IRIS-T i AIM-120 C-5.Samo i oni imaju blokove,8,10,15.Kako su redom dobijali nove mogucnosti.
Tranche 3 je dalje poboljsanje Z-V mogucnosti i dobice i AESA radare.

Naravno. Zanimljivo je ovo sto pise za Tranche 3

Leonard je vec odgovorio, ali da jos dodam:
Tranche 3 nije do kraja definisan. Trebao bi da bude konacna evolucija Typhoona kao visenamenskog aviona.
To ukljucuje mogucnost koriscenja svih poznatih sredstava V-V, V-Z, V-M, ugradnje Captor-E radara, nisana na kacigi, "full-DASS", mogucnost ugradnje CFT (conformal-fuel-tanks), otvorenu arhitekturu elektronike, a mozda cak i TVC.
Dosta se polemike vodilo oko toga kako bi trebali da izgledaju Tranche 3 Typhooni, da li je potrebno dalje ulagati u razvoj, ali mislim da ce narudzbina 72 aviona od strane Saudijske Arabije dati vetar u jedra Tranche 3 verziji i da ce razvoj ovog aviona bii nastavljen.
